The Kinnaur Kailash Yatra is a sacred journey that requires both physical endurance and spiritual commitment. Below is the detailed 7-day itinerary designed for a smooth and well-managed pilgrimage.

Day-wise Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival at Chandigarh/Shimla – Transfer to Shimla

  • Pickup from Chandigarh or Shimla.
  • Drive to Shimla and check-in at a 3-star hotel.
  • Evening briefing session about the yatra, safety protocols, and acclimatization tips.
  • Free time for local sightseeing or rest.
  • Overnight stay in Shimla (3-star hotel).

Day 2: Drive to Reckong Peo / Kalpa (2,290m)

  • Early morning departure from Shimla towards Reckong Peo/Kalpa (Approx. 220-250 km / 7-9 hours).
  • Arrive at Reckong Peo, Kalpa, Tangling, or Purbani Village.
  • Reckong Peo serves as the administrative headquarters of Kinnaur district.
  • Rest and acclimatization to high-altitude conditions.
  • Overnight stay in Reckong Peo/Kalpa.

Day 3: Reckong Peo to Tangling (8 km)/Purbani & Trek to Ganesh Park (3,500m) (9 km Trek)

  • Early morning departure from Reckong Peo/Kalpa to Tangling village.
  • Registration and document verification at Tangling registration counter.
  • Mandatory medical check-up for fitness assessment.
  • Start the 9 km uphill trek to Ganesh Park (Parvati Kund).
  • The trek involves steep climbs and narrow trails through dense forests.
  • Overnight stay in Ganesh Park (tented accommodation).

Note: Pilgrims must carry a valid Medical Fitness Certificate issued within the last 7 days.

Day 4: Ganesh Park to Kinnaur Kailash Shivling (6,050m) & Back to Ganesh Park (12 km Trek)

  • Early morning trek towards Kinnaur Kailash Shivling (approximately 12 km round trip).
  • Visit the sacred 79-ft tall Shivling, a naturally formed rock of immense spiritual significance.
  • Spend time in prayers and rituals at the holy site.
  • Descend back to Ganesh Park for rest.
  • Overnight stay at Ganesh Park (tented accommodation).

Note: Due to the high altitude and extreme conditions, pilgrims are advised to move cautiously and follow guidelines strictly.

Day 5: Ganesh Park to Tangling & Return to Reckong Peo/Kalpa

  • After breakfast, begin the 9 km trek back to Tangling village.
  • From Tangling, take a vehicle back to Reckong Peo/Kalpa.
  • Rest and overnight stay in Reckong Peo/Kalpa.

Day 6: Drive Back to Shimla / Chandigarh – Overnight Stay

  • Enjoy a relaxed morning in Reckong Peo/Kalpa after completing the Yatra.
  • Visit local monasteries and temples or explore nearby attractions in Kalpa.
  • Depart for Shimla or Chandigarh (drive of approx. 7-9 hours).
  • Overnight stay in Shimla/Chandigarh (hotel accommodation included).

Day 7: Drop to Airport/Railway Station/Bus Stand – Tour Ends

  • After breakfast, transfer to Chandigarh/Shimla Airport, railway station, or bus stand.
  • End of the Yatra with spiritual fulfillment and cherished memories.

  • The Yatra coincides with the monsoon season, making the route prone to landslides and unpredictable weather conditions.
  • Pilgrims must be physically fit and accustomed to high-altitude trekking.
  • The District Administration reserves the right to cancel the Yatra in case of adverse weather conditions. In this condition no refund shall be made.
  • Carrying a medical fitness certificate is mandatory.
